Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A division bench of Chief Justice TSC Sivagnanam at the Calcutta High Court had on Wednesday directed the deployment of central forces in sensitive areas.
The state government had filed a review petition regarding this. After a heated debate on this in the court on Thursday and on being asked by the Chief Justice as to how the state government is filing a petition in the matter of the Election Commission, now the West Bengal government has come to its senses.
A petition was filed by advocate and MP Kalyan Banerjee on behalf of the state government, after which a heated exchange took place in the court on Thursday and the court has directed the deployment of central forces in the entire state within 48 hours.
Now the state government has withdrawn its petition on Friday.
